Generally speaking, the optimal length is said to be around your wrist circumference + 1.5cm.
+2cm gives you a little more room and the length reaches the back of your hand, giving it more movement and presence.
+3cm allows for more movement and makes it easier to operate the fastener when putting it on, but it also increases the chance of it getting caught accidentally when putting it on.
Also, for a more comfortable wear, choose a length that is generous enough so that the chain is thicker.
